Maya Hennessey is a 19-year-old filmmaker, writer, and performer based in Chicago, Illinois.
Maya studied in the Creative Writing/Media Arts Department, with a focus on filmmaking, at the Greater Hartford Academy of The Arts in Hartford CT, while also completing her academic studies at Southington High School in Southington, CT.
Her passions in film center around raising awareness for mental health, gender and race equality, sexuality orientation and identity, and much more. She has worked on multiple films at digital media workshops, pre-college, and college programs around the U.S. including Maine Media's Young Filmakers Summer Workshop in 2017, Emerson College's Pre-College Digital Filmmakers Studio in 2018, and The University Of Southern California/Warner Bros. Producing and Directing Class in 2019.
Maya is currently continuing her education at DePaul University in Chicago where she will study Film and Television Production with a concentration in Show Running.
It is her mission to become one of the few Asian Showrunners in the industry, tell authentic, raw stories that aren't representated in mainstream media, and promote diverse collbaoration.
